Best answer: regardless of weight, even platform beds that don't require boxsprings have slats are spaced less than 2 inches apart. yours doesn't sound like anything even close to this. there are also typically several support legs made out of something like 2 x 2 in order to support hte the bed from head to toe.. For those who have beds with a wood headboard, footboard, and wood side rails your bed could be vulnerable to cracking and breaking. there are a couple different types of steel bed slats with feet that can work for this type of bed.. It's an iron bed frame but it has these thin wooden slats behind held in by plastic holders, the ends of which break easily so movement on the bed means the slats fall out. i fixed this by just buying some drawing pins and pushing them through the plastic casing into the wood..
